Make Some Noise

You get what you ask for.
Recently I was operating in the night and the junior doctor on call asked to scrub in for the case.
He asked if he could do some stitching and I let him as I believed he was capable.
I had not intended for this given the time of night, but the case went smoothly and quickly.
He got some experience and I got a small physical rest.
If he didn't ask then it wouldn't have happened.
It's taken me many years to realise that nothing will come to your door step no matter how good you are.
I used to believe that I could "be so good that they can't ignore you."
But now I know you have to ask before you can receive.
You've got to make some noise.
